Within all the health awareness that exists and the concern of keeping a balanced diet, Elika, the Basque Foundation for Agrofood Safety, introduces the need for digitizing paper forms that are designed as a self-help tool to control eating habits.
The users fill in the daily food intake information that is classified and made available through questionnaires that enable them to monitor their daily food intake. The application provides results on the users behaviour rewarding whether their behaviour has been appropriate, or gives advice regarding healthier habits and balanced diets, if the diet is unbalanced.
It is based on a food intake register validated beforehand by the research group of the UPV/EHU (University of the Basque Country) Dept. of Nutrition and Bromatology, funded by the Vitoria/Gasteiz City Council. Furthermore, it has received the collaboration of the SEDYN the Spanish Scientific Association of Dietetics and Nutrition.
