Description of the project
Companies want to know the state of their logistics processes and assets to control the correct functioning of their business, optimize their performance and minimize the response time in the event of any incident.
End customers, both companies and individuals, are increasingly demanding more data and accuracy in traceability in order to know the status of the products they are waiting for and it is sometimes necessary to make personal contact with several companies in order to obtain a satisfactory response.
It is a collaborative environment where the parties involved in the logistics process try to maintain a transparent channel of information with the rest. For these reasons, the challenge to be addressed in the T-Shipping project is to build traceability systems that guarantee the immutability, transparency and integrity of the data provided.
In T-Shipping 3 enabling technologies will be experimented and combined:
- DLT1, more commonly known as Blockchain to ensure trust in shared data.
- Mobile devices as a user interface and as a tool for the complementary capture of data of the logistics process (IoT Mobile), with which to interact in hostile environments with the traceability system.
- IoT2 trackers with built-in sensor to provide new traceability data.
Objectives
The main objective of the T-Shipping (Trusted Shipping) project is to investigate how to achieve a greater degree of trust, interoperability and cybersecurity between companies in their logistics processes without this representing a great change in the way companies work.
The project, which is part of industrial research, is structured in two phases:
1º The design of a solution that covers the needs of the market together with laboratory tests is proposed to obtain a better understanding of the technologies applied to the logistics sector.
2º A prototype of the system will be developed with which to carry out validation tests in laboratory environments through a demonstrator.
As part of the digitalization of the logistics processes itself, the T-Shipping project also aims to offer companies in the sector a saving of time and resources in the execution of the same, optimizing the use of specific app-type mobile interfaces, which increase their productivity and efficiency.
