F. Ausolan creates the Zer0s project aligned with the SDGs
Mobile solutions for the industry sector

The Ausolan Foundation is a non-profit organisation created by Grupo Ausolan in 2021, through which it aims to develop the social transformation of the cooperative.
Its objective is to contribute to the achievement of some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the UN. Within these SDGs, some specific goals have been established where “Zero Hunger” and “Responsible Consumption and Production” against food waste are found.
The goal is for surplus food to reach the various aid organisations that help the most disadvantaged people.
So far, 53.571lb of food has been donated from its central kitchens, equivalent to 72,200 meals.
The Ausolan Foundation has relied on Batura to digitise this management of school food surpluses, offering a platform to facilitate this work for schools and that is aligned with the new regulatory requirements of the sector.
Traceability and digitalisation requirements
The foundation needed an intuitive and accessible digital system from any device that would facilitate the recording and management of food surpluses generated on a day-to-day basis. At the same time it should:
- ensure the complete traceability of the process,
- ensure the reliability of the data entered by the centres,
- and allow the download of Excel files with the information, useful for your internal analysis.
In addition to legal compliance, the organisation sought a solution that would simplify staff tasks,, minimise errors and reduce the time spent on manual processes.
Another key objective was to provide the Ausolan Foundation with a global and centralised vision of the situation of surpluses in all its centers. Allowing it to identify trends, improve planning and strengthen its commitment to reduce food waste. In short, a platform that provides transparency, efficiency and real monitoring capacity to the entire organisation.
Responsive multiplatform solution
To respond to the identified requirements, we have developed a multiplatform responsive web solution, accessible from any device and available in four languages —Basque, Catalan, Spanish and English— with the aim of adapting to the diversity of the centers and facilitating their use by all staff. The tool has been specifically designed to optimise the registration of food surpluses and the management of donations, bringing order, clarity and efficiency to the process.
The solution allows:
- Record food surpluses in real time, through a simple and guided flow that reduces errors and streamlines daily work.
- Record the donation of the surplus, incorporating the information required about the recipient and ensuring a transparent and traceable process.
- Ensure complete traceability thanks to a detailed history by center, date, product type, quantity and final destination, which facilitates analysis and monitoring.
- Download automatic reports in Excel format, useful for internal audits, communication with the Administration and monitoring of goals.
- Provide visibility and transparency to the Public Administration, allowing the consultation, supervision and management of any registry or authorised work center.
User Experience
The primary users of the tool are responsible for each dining room, who must record surpluses and donations as part of their daily routine. This process is an additional task within its usual activity and that it requires the introduction of a considerable volume of information. It means the design of the platform has focused on providing an agile, clear and as less intrusive experience as possible.
To achieve this, we have implemented a series of improvements aimed at reducing time, minimising errors and facilitating the introduction of data:
- Fields pre-completed with usual values.
- Intelligent validations to prevent errors.
- Strategic self-completion of dates.
- Guides and visual equivalences.
- Clean and tidy interface.
At Batura we firmly believe that the success of a technological project depends not only on satisfying customer requirements, but also on a thorough understanding of the needs of users who will use the platform constantly. That understanding lies in real adoption, efficiency and a good user experience.
The result is a robust, flexible and scalable solution, prepared to accompany the Foundation in its current objectives and also in its future plans. Providing operational efficiency, centralised control and total transparency, reinforcing the commitment of the Ausolan Foundation to sustainability and responsible food management.
